Expensy makes expense tracking as simple as sending an email. Learn how to get the most out of our service.

Basic Usage

Send Receipts via Email

Simply forward or send your receipts (PDF or image) to [email protected]

  • Attach up to 5 receipts per email
  • Files must be smaller than 10 MB
  • Supported formats: PDF, JPG, PNG

Email Subject as Receipt Title

The subject line of your email will automatically become the title of your receipt.

Example:

Subject: Office Supplies from Staples
Result: Receipt titled "Office Supplies from Staples"

Receipt Parsing Capabilities

Expensy's powerful parsing technology can extract data from various receipt formats:

Add tags to your receipts by including them in the email address after a plus sign. Separate multiple tags with dots.

Email Content as Receipt

If you send or forward an email without attachments, Expensy will use the email content itself as the receipt.

How it works:

  1. Send an email to [email protected] without attachments
  2. Expensy captures the email content
  3. The system creates a screenshot of the email
  4. This screenshot is stored as the receipt image
  5. All text is processed for data extraction

Perfect for digital receipts, confirmation emails, or any expense information received via email.

Dashboard Management

After processing, all receipts are available in your dashboard where you can:

  • Edit receipt details and information
  • Add or modify tags
  • Categorise expenses
  • Add notes and additional context
  • Export data in various formats
  • Generate reports and summaries
